Men’s Wedding Band, with Embossed Cross, Embossed Crowns (Stefana), Embossed Ribbon, and encompassed by “Crown Them with Glory and Honor” Script in English.
Detailed Description
This masculine, 7.5 millimeter wide, combination high-polish and sandblast finish, Greek Orthodox wedding band was designed for the Orthodox Christian man with a love for his Church and a desire to be forever reminded, in exquisite fashion, of the service that united him with his eternal bride. The floor of this ring has been sandblasted in order to reflect the light in a more diffused way, giving it a subtle and stylish finish, reducing the gloss of the background. Not only does this add to the overall robust quality of this piece, but it also provides a backdrop that allows the high-polish features (cross, crowns, ribbon, script, and rim) to stand out in a strikingly handsome way.
The center of the design is an embossed, ancient Greek cross, with a Chi Rho (the well-known ancient Greek monogram for Christ) in its center. The cross has a tactile, three-dimensional ribbon passing over its front, weaving in-between its bars, and then finally advancing to the true “glory” of the design, which are the Orthodox wedding crowns, known as “stefana” to Greeks. The viewer’s eyes naturally follow the path of the embossed ribbon from the intertwined cross out to the connected crowns on either side. Immediately, the wedding crowns strike a chord with anyone who has ever attended an Orthodox wedding and bring them right back to the service, both in mind and spirit. All of the detail is there in high-polish, tangible form, from the woven exterior right down to the ribbon’s sealing bow at the back of the crown.
Enclosing this entire composition are the indelible words, from the Orthodox Crowing Service itself, “Crown Them with Glory and Honor,” which are illustrated, forever, on the ring that has been placed on the groom’s hand, during this very service. The script itself has been embossed and high-polished, so that its contrast to the sandblasted ring floor makes it remarkably easy to read. As a final touch, the entire design is sunk down beneath the protection of two .6mm tall, .8mm wide, high-polish rails, on either side of the surface of the band. These two rails add to the Greek era feel of the entire piece, enhance the masculine persona of the band, provide a matching finish type to draw out the features of the design, and last but not least, they act as a protective shield for the internal features of the composition, which are all lower than the height of the rails.
